  1. Beatific - another Blender Software (BS) production

  4. Greetings, DJs and train spotters (choo choo). Do you want to find the BPM of
  5. some of the tunes in your vinyl or CD collection for mixing or joining sample
  6. loops? Of course you do. And this here's the program to help you do it.
  7.  
  8. Just play the tune and hit the Return key on each beat. As you do this the
  9. BPM and 4/4 bar display are shown in a little window. If you're going through
  10. a long bit of the tune without beats or you fall out of time, hit Space then
  11. start again on the first beat of a 4/4 bar using Return. The time in between
  12. the Space and Return won't be counted. After a couple of minutes you've got
  13. your BPM, so hit Esc to tell it that you've finished before the next tune.

  15. If that's not enough, you can ask for the BPM values on speeds from -8% to
  16. +8% to be worked out and displayed or sent to the clipboard (and from there
  17. on to a word processor or something). It's worked out using the BPM you just
  18. took at 0%. You can use this to see if you've got a good chance of mixing two
  19. tunes (yeah, I know, but I've just started DJing and sometimes it helps me
  20. for the tricky ones, it might do for you too) or joining two sample loops.

  23. So, what does it work on?

  26. Any Amiga with Kickstart 2 or above.

  32. Drag the icon to your C: drawer or some other drawer that you've got set
  33. aside for programs.

  39. From the Workbench, click on the icon. From the shell, type "Beatific".

  45. Return starts, Space pauses until another Return, and Esc stops. Whilst it's
  46. stopped or paused you can use the Edit menu and show the Final BPM window.

  51.          Quit...
  52.     Edit   - Copy          Send the Final BPM window to the clipboard.
  53.          Cut          The Final BPM window's closed afterwards.
  54.          Delete          Wipe the clipboard if anything's on it.
  55.     Window - Show Final BPM   Show or hide the Final BPM window.
